Coaching Orientation
I believe the performance studio should be a collaborative and experimental space. My role is to facilitate your growth by lending my expertise to your process. When you come through the door, I don’t have any idea what you want to express, how you’re “supposed” to sound, or what your goals might be. These are questions we can explore together, and I am eager to help guide you toward your own artistic agency and embodied expression. Availability
Due to the demands of my other professional activities, my private coaching availability is often limited. Please feel free to call or write with serious inquiries, and I will do my best to accommodate you. I’m always happy to have a quick chat about your goals and answer any questions you might have about coaching.
Rate
- $200/hour
A sliding scale is available, as are professional discounts for working actors.
Attendance
- If you are sick, please communicate with me as far in advance as possible and consider rescheduling. Rest is often the best lesson!
- No-shows and appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance will be billed at the regular lesson rate, barring extraordinary circumstances.
- In the event that you are running late and are unable to contact me, I will wait ten minutes for you.
Session Format
- Coaching sessions generally take place via Zoom. You’ll want to arrange a space where you can make loud sounds freely during our time together.
- Sessions will be exploratory rather than prescriptive, focusing on your goals. I endeavor to be curious and creative, and I invite your inquisitiveness and collaboration!
- Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to move in your session.
- You are welcome to audio or video record our time together.
Miscellaneous
Generally speaking, I am comfortable coaching actors and other performers in any genre, even if I am not an expert in your particular style. I believe that cross-genre training is one of the best, most interesting, and most fun ways to make progress. I love it when my clients introduce me to a new linguistic or musical idiom. In the case that I truly lack the cultural competence to help you with the material you’re working on, I will of course try to point you toward someone more qualified.
I prefer that clients take the lead in material selection. Please come with something to work on. If you are totally at a loss in finding suitable material, I will be happy to work with you.
